Another History Recap of Cooperation between Japan and ASEAN

Mission of Japan to ASEAN is back with another history recap of Japan and ASEAN cooperation.

Previously, we have looked at the Fukuda Doctrine and Five Principles of Japan’s ASEAN Diplomacy.

Let us now look at the Four Key Areas of Partnership, as the foundation of cooperation between Japan and ASEAN until this very day. Adopted on the Vision Statement on ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and its Implementation Plan dating back to 2013 that coincides with the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan relations.

The Four Key Areas of Partnership:

1. Partners for Peace and Stability
2. Partners for Prosperity
3. Partners for Quality of Life
4. Heart-to-heart Partners
