Joint Statement of the First ASEAN-Japan Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management (1st AMMDM Plus Japan)

The First ASEAN-Japan Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management (1st AMMDM Plus Japan) was held on 14 October 2021 via virtual conference, under the co-chairmanship of H.E. K. Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law of the Republic of Singapore, and H.E. Satoshi Ninoyu, Minister of State for Disaster Management of Japan. It was held back-to-back following the 9th AMMDM and 10th Meeting of Conference of the Parties to the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER). Japan and ASEAN affirm their longstanding relationship and common objective to achieve substantial reduction of disaster losses in lives and assets, and enhance disaster resiliency of our region through joint collaboration and cooperation in disaster management.

ASEAN appreciated Japan’s continued support through Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) in the area of disaster management under following projects: ASEAN-Emergency Response and Assessment Team (ASEAN-ERAT), the Disaster Emergency Logistics System for ASEAN (DELSA), the establishment of an Integrated ICT System and the AHA Centre Executive (ACE) Programme, Development of AADMER Work Programme 2021-2025, and ASEAN Mapping Exercise to Promote Synergy with Other Relevant ASEAN Sectoral Bodies and Entities Associated with ASEAN on Disaster Management Report, which was launched at the sidelines of the 1st AMMDM Plus Japan.
