ASEAN-Japan Medical Device Regulatory Symposium and Seminar

From 14 to 16 May 2025, ASEAN-Japan Medical Devices Regulatory Symposium and Seminar are held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The program brought together regulatory staff from all 10 ASEAN Member States for a one-day symposium followed by a two-day seminar with industry and academia to exchange insights on medical device regulation, safety, and review processes and to build capacity for regulatory harmonisation across the ASEAN region.

Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, KIYA Masahiko opened the event with keynote remarks, joined by representatives from Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency, the University of Indonesia, and the Ministry of Health of Indonesia. JAIF Management Team (JMT) Programme Coordinator attended the symposium and seminar.

This initiative, supported by the Government of Japan through JAIF, reflects the ASEAN-Japan Joint Vision Statement, a shared commitment to improving access to medical devices and health services across the ASEAN region.

Japan reaffirmed its long-term support for strengthening the health sector in ASEAN through collaborative platforms like the one led by PMDA.
