ASEAN launches new emergency satellite warehouses
The ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) launched a new emergency satellite warehouse on 1 July in Camp Aguinaldo, Philippines. Together with the satellite warehouse in Chainat, Thailand, which was recently launched during the 34th ASEAN Summit, ASEAN reaffirmed commitment to increase speed and scale of response to disasters in the region.
The said satellite warehouse shall be co-managed by the AHA Centre and the Philippines’ National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). The establishment of this satellite warehouse in the Philippines is a reflection of the strong partnership and collaboration between ASEAN through the AHA Centre and the NDRRMC through the OCD in disaster risk reduction and management.
