Funding Framework
Funding framework consists of the components that categorize JAIF-funded projects. A wide range of projects include health, counter-terrorism, environment, disaster management, economic integration and assistance, education, and youth exchange. This funding framework helps JAIF distribute financial assistance precisely to strengthen cooperation for ASEAN integration

H.E. Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, the then Prime Minister of Japan, announced in December 2005, that Japan would provide financial assistance in the amount of 7.5 billion yen (or approximately USD 70,100,000) to support the integration of ASEAN through ASEAN-Japan cooperation funds and after subsequent coordination among ASEAN and the Government of Japan, a new fund, Original JAIF, was established in 2006. In 2008, approximately USD 2,800,000 was merged into Original JAIF from the remaining balance of Japan-ASEAN Exchange Project and Japan-ASEAN General Exchange Fund. This component has funded wide-ranging projects in the fields such as health, counter-terrorism, the environment, outreach, disaster management and economic integration.
