In 2015, the Government of Japan launched JENESYS2015 as a people-to-people exchange program between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region and contributed approximately USD 8,600,000 for its implementation. Approximately 1,800 youths (including students and professional individuals) from Japan and ASEAN Member States were involved in FY 2015. As a successor to JENESYS 2.0, JENESYS2015 aimed at promoting mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan and participating countries, at building a basis for future friendship and cooperation, and at encouraging an understanding of Japan’s economics, society, history, diverse culture, politics, and diplomatic relations. Following the completion of its implementation by the end of March 2016, this component was closed in December 2016.
