The Japanese government launched a Youth-Exchange Project with Asia-Oceania and North America called “Kizuna” (which means “bond”), under this project, approximately 9,000 youths from the Asian/Oceanian region had the opportunity to participate in this project. From the 10 AMSs, approximately 2,600 youths were involved. This project was part of a Japanese reconstruction plan to promote global understanding of Japan’s revival after the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011. The GOJ’s contribution to support this programme in 2012 was USD 30,400,000. This component was closed in January 2015.
