ASEAN ERAT Beneficiaries Interviewed at ARDEX-23

YOGYAKARTA, 1–3 August 2023 – On the occasion of the ASEAN Regional Disaster Emergency Response Simulation Exercise 2023 (ARDEX-23) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 1-3 August 2023, the JAIF Management Team (JMT) interviewed several experts who participated in ASEAN-Emergency Response and Assessment Team (ASEAN-ERAT) training programmes, which are the flagship projects funded by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) and implemented by the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre). Three beneficiaries from Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, and the Philippines shared with JMT their experiences in participating in ASEAN-ERAT training courses, deployment missions, and the management of ASEAN-ERAT. They also expounded on how the contributions at the individual level were related to organisational and even regional level outcomes.

Based on the interviews of the beneficiaries, communications and visibility products, including Beneficiaries’ Voice articles, will be developed to showcase the JAIF contributions to ASEAN and to raise the awareness and understanding about JAIF amongst its stakeholders and partners.
