JMT and ASEC Co-organise a Briefing on JAIF Project Management in Support of the Carbon Footprint of Renewable Energy for ASEAN Countries Project
JAKARTA, 9 February 2022 – On 9 February 2022, the JAIF Management Team (JMT), in collaboration with the External Economic Relations Division (EERD) of the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC), organised a briefing on JAIF rules and procedures to support the implementation of the Carbon Footprint of Renewable Energy for ASEAN Countries project funded by JAIF. Apart from the JMT and ASEC staff, the briefing was participated by the Thai counterparts who are engaged in the project and are currently working with the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) and the Technology and Informatics Institute for Sustainability (TIIS).
The briefing was intended to guide the partners in Thailand through essential elements and steps to follow when implementing JAIF projects, such as reporting requirements, financial-related procedures, and guidelines for visibility. Through his opening remarks, Naoki Minamiguchi, JMT Director, encouraged the Thai partners to take full advantage of the project to build their capacities and to assist all the ASEAN Member States to make evidence-based decisions and policy formulation by drawing on project’s information and data on climate change and greenhouse gases. A presentation made by Zin Aung Swe, JMT Programme Coordinator, facilitated the process of learning the JAIF rules and procedures. The briefing was moderated by Jesica Christina, Officer of EERD, and regarded useful for implementing the project, according to Dr Jitti Mungkalasiri, CEO of TIIS, who also provided opening remarks and represented the voices of other participants at the closing of the meeting.
