JMT Attends the Open Session of the 6th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) Working Group on Preparedness, Response, and Recovery

PENANG, 6 September 2023 – Naoki Minamiguchi, Director of the JAIF Management Team (JMT), and Zin Aung Swe, JMT Programme Coordinator, participated in the opening session of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) Working Group on Preparedness Response and Recovery. They delivered a presentation on ASEAN-Japan Cooperation in Disaster Management, reiterating JAIF’s purposes, priorities, and commitments to disaster risk reduction and resilience building in the ASEAN region.

JMT also expressed immense gratitude and appreciation to Working Group members for their approval on short notice of the new project Lesson Learned from Humanitarian Operations in Turkey and Syria since a project workshop was expected to be organised in Jakarta on 18-19 September 2023.

The open session was attended by all 10 ASEAN Member States as well as other ASEAN’s partners, such as UNDP and the Asia Development Bank.
