JMT Attends the Regional Kick-off Meeting of “Regional Collaborative Research and Capacity Building for Monitoring and Reduction of Marine Debris from Fisheries in Southeast Asia”
The Regional Kick-off Meeting of the JAIF-supported Project, Regional Collaborative Research and Capacity Building for Monitoring and Reduction of Marine Debris from Fisheries in Southeast Asia, was held on 10 September 2024. The hybrid meeting was chaired by the Secretary-General of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), Dr. Suttinee Limthammahisorn and attended virtually by around 50 key stakeholders from the ASEAN Member States, three SEAFDEC Departments in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, and the JAIF Management Team (JMT).
JMT Programme Coordinator, Miyuki Ishikawa, delivered remarks on behalf of JAIF, highlighting the significance of SEAFDEC’s new project, which aims to enhance regional collaborative research and capacity building in the fisheries sector, thereby contributing to the four priority areas of the “ASEAN Framework of Action on Marine Debris.
Following the introduction of the project activities by the SEAFDEC Secretariat, the participants had an active discussion on the project implementation.
