JMT Visits the Department of Disease Control (DDC), Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand

NONTHABURI, 22 November 2023 – Naoki Minamiguchi, Director of JAIF Management Team (JMT) and Billy Sumuan, Senior Programme Officer visited the Department of Disease Control (DDC), Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in Thailand. JMT was welcomed by Dr. Sopon Iamsirithaworn, Deputy Director-General, and Dr. Soawapak Hinjoy, Director of the Office of International Cooperation.

During the visit, DDC Thailand shared the progress of the Establishment Agreement of the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED). The meeting also discussed potential proposals from DDC which will support the establishment of the Response and Risk Communication Centre and provide technical assistance for building the capacity to run and manage the Centre, which will address various technical issues at the department level, including the development of a communication and coordination mechanism.
