The 9th High-Level Seminar on Sustainable Cities

SIEM REAP, 9 March 2018 – The Government of Cambodia in partnership with the Government of Japan, ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities (AWGESC), and ASEAN Secretariat organized the 9th High-Level Seminar on Sustainable Cities (HLS-SC) on 8-10 March 2018 in Siem Reap, Cambodia under the framework of the East Asia Summit Environment Ministers Meeting (EAS EMM). The high-level seminar is organised annually to gather together influential East and Southeast Asia policymakers, experts and practitioners working on clean, green and sustainable cities. The 9th HLS-SC was attended by more than 250 participants, comprising representatives from ASEAN member states, local authorities and supporting organizations, international/regional organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), research institutions/academia, private companies, among others. The key messages from the seminar will be reported to EAS environment ministers and at relevant ASEAN meetings.

In this occasion, the JAIF Management Team (JMT) was invited to make a short presentation about JAIF in the session “ASEAN SDGs Frontrunner Cities Programme.” The project “ASEAN SDGs Frontrunner Cities Programme – Upgrading the ASEAN ESC Model Cities Programme” is supported by JAIF.

JMT Programme Coordinator Zin Aung Swe provided a brief overview about JAIF during the second day of the 9th HLS-SC in Cambodia.
