Visit to the Office of the International Cooperation, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health of Thailand

BANGKOK, 25 February 2025 – JAIF Management Team (JMT) Senior Programme Officer, Billy Sumuan, visited the Office of International Cooperation at the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand. Director of the Office and the designated focal point for the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED) Response Centre in Thailand, Dr. Suchada Jiamsiri,  welcomed JMT and shared updates related to the progress of the establishment of the Response Centre including clarifying key aspects of the project, potential Implementing Agencies, the proposed timeline, and the prospective location for the Response Centre.

As part of the visit, JMT toured the Sasakawa Research Building, one of the proposed locations for the Centre, guided by Deputy Director of the National Institute of Health (NIH), Chaiwat Poolsrikarn. The tour highlighted the building’s current functions, including a Biosafety Level III laboratory.
