ASEAN Secretariat welcomes delegates from Hiroshima-ASEAN Association

JAKARTA, 5 February 2018 – On 5 February 2018, 15 delegates from the Hiroshima-ASEAN Association led by Setsuko Komatsu, Vice Chair of Hiroshima-ASEAN Association, visited ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC). The Association was established in year 2013 and since its inception, it had been carrying out a wide range of activities including study visits to selected ASEAN Member States (AMSs). The visit is organised on an annual basis to expose its members on the latest status of ASEAN. This year, Indonesia and Malaysia were selected for the study visit. About half of the delegates were top/senior executives of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) headquartered/operating in Hiroshima, Japan and have their business relations in AMSs.

ASEC’s Director for Community Affairs Lee Yoong Yoong welcomed and provided the introduction briefing to the delegates. It was followed by an insightful sharing on ASEAN-Japan Cooperation by the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs H.E. Dr. AKP Mochtan. JAIF Management Team (JMT) Director Miyakawa provided the briefing on Overview of JAIF for Japan-ASEAN Cooperation. Minister, Deputy Chief of Mission of Japan to ASEAN Hikariko Ono also attended the session and provided supplemental information in response to the questions made by the delegates.
