ASEAN-Japan Fair 2023 Commemorates 50 Years of Friendship and Cooperation

The Mission of Japan to ASEAN and the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) Management Team (JMT) jointly organised the ASEAN-Japan Fair 2023 at the Main Atrium of Plaza Senayan in Jakarta from 29 September to 1 October.

The fair served as an important milestone in commemorating the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation. Various booths from Japanese organisations and companies, dynamic Taiko (Japanese drum) performance, and other fun activities were featured in the event.

The three-day fair was officially launched by the Ambassador of the Mission of Japan to ASEAN KIYA Masahiko. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Kiya expressed his appreciation for the longstanding cooperation between ASEAN and Japan as everyone works together to benefit the region and pursue the ASEAN Outlook on Indo-Pacific (AOIP). He also introduced JABOT, the fair’s mascot, to illustrate the beauty and innovativeness of ASEAN and the region’s cooperation with Japan.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy-Secretary General of ASEAN for Political-Security Community Michael Tene and the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN Urawadee Sriphiromya also delivered their remarks and thanked Japan for its contributions to ASEAN and hoped for a continued friendship and cooperation for years to come.

The participating partner organisations and companies included the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), J Trust Bank, PT SJS, Marubeni, PT Amerta Indah Otsuka, Hokkaido Government Representative Office, Atomis, Yachiyo Engineering, Glico, and Uniqlo.

JMT and the Mission of Japan to ASEAN jointly unveiled their initiatives in support of the AOIP and the significant advancements made towards shaping a more promising future. Other companies, namely ABeam Consulting, APTERR, Japan Foundation, Kajima, and Uni-Charm, also showcased their initiatives in the exhibition.

More events for families and friends will be held in November to celebrate the friendship and cooperation between ASEAN and Japan, including the Golden Friendship Fun Walk and Run and the Golden Mission at Jakarta Japan Matsuri.
