Brunei Plays Host to 11th ASEAN-Japan Counter-Terrorism (AJCT) Dialogue
Brunei Darussalam is hosting a two-day 11th ASEAN-Japan Counter-Terrorism (AJCT) Dialogue at The Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong which ends today.
The 11th AJCT Dialogue is co-chaired by Permanent Secretary (Security and Enforcement) at the Prime Minister’s Office Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Muhamad Sazali bin Pengiran Haji Yakob and Ambassador in charge of International Cooperation for Countering Terrorism and International Organised Crime of Japan Eiji Yamamoto.
The AJCT Dialogue was launched in 2006 as a forum to exchange views on the current situation related to terrorism and discuss various projects funded by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) which contributes to the region-wide counter-terrorism measures, stated a press release.
JAIF aims at supporting integration efforts to create the ASEAN Community by facilitating the implementation of the ASEAN 2025 which includes promoting greater cooperation between ASEAN and Japan.
The press release added that the AJCT Dialogue also provides a platform for ASEAN Member States and Japan to share information, best practices, and experiences in the effort to fight terrorism in this region, as well as to enhance cooperation, especially among security and law enforcement agencies.
The 11th AJCT Dialogue is being attended by officials from ASEAN Member States, Japan and the ASEAN Secretariat.
