Consultation Meeting between Japan and Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN at the ASEAN Secretariat

On 13 October, the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Economic Community Satvinder Singh, Ambassador of Mission of Japan to ASEAN, KIYA Masahiko and JICA, JETRO, ERIA, attachés from Japanese government ministries/agencies and ASEC directorates as well as the JAIF Management Team (JMT), had a consultation at the ASEAN Secretariat.

This is a follow-up meeting from 19 May 2023 where the parties discussed on a new vision and areas for collaboration to be announced at the Special Summit to commemorate the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation scheduled in December 2023.

From the Japanese side, the updates were provided from the line ministries and agencies in the priority areas such as agriculture, tourism, transport, and digital transformation/economy. In response, DSG Singh and ASEC shared their comments from the relevant ASEAN Sectoral Body.

Specific deliverables in each area are expected to be announced at the special summit!
