JENESYS2023 aims to promote mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan, ASEAN Member States, and Timor-Leste, to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation, as well as to encourage an understanding of various aspects of Japan. The project is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). These are the highlights of JENESYS2023 reported by Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) in August 2023:
21 August: Two events of JENESYS2023 Online Japan-Visit Advanced Program for JENESYS ASEAN Alumni with the themes “Environment/Disaster Prevention” and “Population Problem” were held on 7 – 17 August 2023. After the nine-day program, the 100 participants deepened their understanding of their respective themes and Japanese culture, and enjoyed exchanges with alumni and Japanese students from ASEAN countries.
7 August: Eighty-nine ASEAN and Timor Leste high school students and their leaders came to Japan for the JENESYS ASEAN-Japan High School Students Exchange on 25 July – 2 August 2023.
