Report of the Policy Dialogue and Perspectives from PoDIWM Project

The National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) held a policy dialogue meeting for policy makers in the central government, academic experts, and major city administrators from nine ASEAN countries as part of a project to strengthen the integrated development of decentralized wastewater treatment system in the region through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). The conference was held online on 21, 22 and 27 October 2020. Through the policy dialogue, the participants agreed on the necessity to develop a policy roadmap for the introduction, dissemination and establishment of appropriate domestic wastewater management in the ASEAN region and confirmed that the network of stakeholders is mutually committed to resolving common regional issues and will continue to work closely with the ASEAN Secretariat to strengthen the activity in this field.
