Handover Ceremony of Plastic Recycling Machine to Kampung Baru Community, Redang Island, Terengganu
Jabatan Perancangan Bandar dan Desa (PLANMalaysia) has been selected by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) to represent Malaysia in the ASEAN SDGs Frontrunner Cities Programme Phase 2 – Supporting Bottom-Up Innovations for Addressing Land-Based Plastic Marine Debris and Urban Resilience in ASEAN Cities.
PLANMalaysia with the cooperation of Pusat Tadbir Urus Lautan, Institut Oseanografi dan Sekitaran (INOS), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Majlis Bandaraya Kuala Terengganu (MBKT) will implement the “Handover Ceremony of Plastic Recycling Machine to Kampung Baru Community, Redang Island, Terengganu” on 16-17 September 2023 with the hope that the coastal area will continue to be maintained and restored to ensure that the nature around the coastal area of Pulau Redang will continue and sustainable. In addition, this initiative will also provide opportunities for additional side income and economic opportunities to the Redang Island community.
The ASEAN SDGs Frontrunner Cities Programme Phase 2 – Supporting Bottom-Up Innovations for Addressing Land-Based Plastic Marine Debris and Urban Resilience in ASEAN Cities is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
