Highlight of JENESYS2024 Activities Reported in June 2025

JENESYS2024 aims to promote mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan, ASEAN Member States, and Timor-Leste, to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation, as well as to encourage an understanding of various aspects of Japan. The project is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). This is the highlight of JENESYS2024 reported by the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) in June 2025:
Introducing JENESYS Alumni from Vietnam: Nguyen Thi Hai Yen (JENESYS2021)
After the online JENESYS program, Nguyen Thi Hai Yen worked with other participants to share the beauty of Japan on their Facebook page. She is now an SDGs consultant, working with Japanese startups.
Introducing JENESYS Alumni from Thailand: Nicha Booncharoen
Nicha Booncharoen has made various videos in clear English on her YouTube channel. She shared her JENESYS experience and also uploaded a video on how Japan teaches people to prepare for earthquakes. She made this video after the earthquakes in Myanmar and Thailand this year, using what she learned from JENESYS.
Second In-Person Reunion Party: “Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs”
On 25 June, JICE successfully hosted the Second In-Person Reunion Party for past participants of the “Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs” staying in Japan. This marked the second event since last March. 50 attendees came together, including alumni from JENESYS, Kakehashi Project, and MIRAI. Five alumni delivered speeches representing their respective programs.
