Highlight of JENESYS2024 Activities Reported in March 2025

JENESYS2024 aims to promote mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan, ASEAN Member States, and Timor-Leste, to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation, as well as to encourage an understanding of various aspects of Japan. The project is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). The Philippines-Japan Development Exchange (Dispatch Program of Japanese University Students
Eight Japanese university students visited Manila, Philippines from 25 February to 4 March 2025. Through the theme of “Development Exchange,” they focused on infrastructure and poverty, engaging in lectures, visits, and interactions with local people.
Online Japan-Visit Advanced Program for ASEAN Alumni Theme: Japanese Language and Culture
33 JENESYS alumni participated in “JENESYS2024 Online Japan-Visit Advanced Program for ASEAN Alumni” held from 5 to 14 March 2025. JENESYS participants learned a lot through various programs, such as lectures on local culture, Japanese language lessons, Japanese cultural experiences, and School exchange activities, with the theme of “Japanese language and culture.”
Introduction of JENESYS Alumni from Cambodia, Vouchleang Seng
She joined JENESYS while she was in high school and was very impressed with Japan. Her experience with JENESYS broadened her horizons, leading her to decide to attend a Japanese university to study chemistry.
The Lao PDR and Japan’s Agriculture Exchange
16 participants from Lao PDR visited Japan as part of the JENESYS Project from 4 to 11 March while also celebrating 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Lao PDR and Japan. The participants visited Tokyo and Shizuoka prefecture to learn more about agriculture and culture.
