Highlights of JENESYS2022 Activities in August 2022
JENESYS2022 aims to promote mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan, ASEAN Member States, and Timor-Leste, to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation, as well as to encourage an understanding of various aspects of Japan. The project is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). These are the highlights of JENESYS2022 activities conducted in August 2022:
JENESYS2022 Japan-ASEAN AOIP-FOIP Exchange: Learning about ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) was a good opportunity for ASEAN youth in preparation for the upcoming 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan friendship next year. Mr. Yazawa Hideki from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan gave a lecture about ASEAN-Japan relationships to the participants.
JENESYS Alumni Program for Indonesia: In this programme, Mr. Bando, President & Representative Director of PT Amerta Indah Otsuka, gave a lecture on their business, products, and activities in Indonesia.
JENESYS Online Japan-Visit Advanced Program (Theme: Disaster Prevention): About 40 participants, ranging from university students to working adults from ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste joined this programme and exchanged their opinions on disaster prevention.
JENESYS Online Program for Myanmar: The participants from Myanmar enjoyed a wonderful lecture about Japan by Ms. Andrade Hisami. Various topics were introduced, such as Japanese society, culture, history, customs, Japanese people’s character, and so on.
JENESYS Alumni Program for Lao PDR: Mr. Hisaike Sadamitsu, President Director of Nishino Komuten Co., Ltd, presented the company’s initiatives in using Japanese wood processing technology to foster the building industry while also developing local human resources.
JENESYS Alumni Program for Viet Nam: Mr. Nishikawa Satoshi and Mr Đàm Mạnh Tuấn from AEON VIETNAM Co., Ltd gave a lecture on their business development in Viet Nam and how they try to enrich Vietnamese people’s life, as well as future plans.
First Online Program for ASEAN-Japan 50th Anniversary: About 50 participants from ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste took part in this programme. The course provided an insight into the history of development cooperation between Japan and ASEAN. Participants learned a lot about wildlife conservation projects in Indonesia, Japan’s rich nature and sustainable lifestyle, research and study life in Japan, and so on.
JENESYS2022 Japan-ASEAN Alumni Online Program (Theme: SDGs): Fifty participants from ASEAN and Timor Leste got lectures for nine days,and had virtual visits to many institutes related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
JENESYS Online Program for Timor-Leste: Participants from Timor-Leste enjoyed fantastic lecture to understand Japan. Various topics were introduced such as Japanese society, culture, customs, Japanese people’s character and so on.
JENESYS Alumni Program for Cambodia: Mr. Kamata Keiya, chairperson of the board of directors of Sunrise Healthcare Service Co., Ltd, dedicated to offering “Japanese-style” medical service in Sunrise Japan Hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia gave a lecture on their services.
JENESYS Alumni Program for Timor Leste: In this programme, Mr. Goto from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Timor-Leste office gave a lecture on “JICA Projects and its relation with the people of Timor-Leste”. The participants learned a lot about JICA’s ongoing approach to support Timor-Leste to realise “Safe, Resilient and Attractive City” for the next generations.
JENESYS Alumni Program for Thailand: The Japan Foundation, Bangkok, which is dedicated to carrying out comprehensive international cultural exchange programs in Thailand gave a lecture on their programs.
JENESYS Alumni Program for Singapore: Hitachi Asia Ltd. gave a lecture regarding their business in Singapore and Asia. Their business covered various fields such as social innovation business that combines IT, operational technology, and products.
JENESYS Alumni Program for the Philippines: The SFTE-JV (Shimizu-Fujita-Takenaka-EEI Joint Venture), which is the Contractor of Contract Package CP101 of Metro Manila Subway Project gave a lecture. The Metro Manila Subway, also known Mega Manila Subway, is the biggest and first subway project in the Philippines. Through the lecture and Q&A session, participants learned challenges of this big project and key points of their management.
