Highlights of JENESYS2023 Activities Reported in October 2023
JENESYS2023 aims to promote mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan, ASEAN Member States, and Timor-Leste, to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation, as well as to encourage an understanding of various aspects of Japan. The project is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). These are the highlights of JENESYS2023 reported by Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) in September-October 2023:
JENESYS2023 Viet Nam – Japan Cultural Exchange for High School Students was held on 17-24 October. Ten Viet Nam high school students visited Japan! They spent a week in Tokyo and Osaka. They learnt Japanese culture from various points of view such as anime, games for pop culture, and Edo wind bell and tea ceremonies for traditional Japanese culture. Also, they had a valuable experience on homestay and school exchange in Osaka, so they can understand a little Japanese. It is hoped that they had a good experience in this program and keep a good relationship with Japan in the future.
JENESYS Timor-Leste Alumni event was held virtually on 11 October 2023. The participants had a learningful and creative time in JENESYS Timor-Leste Alumni event last week! After the lecture about fair trade and their activities by Ms. Roberts from the PARC Interpeoples’ Cooperation (PARCIC), participants tried to come up their original sustainable food product which takes advantages of Timor-Leste’s strength.
JENESYS Online Alumni Meeting (Brunei, Philippines, Singapore) was held on 21 September 2023. Mr. Ichikawa, who works at the Japanese restaurant Excapade in Brunei, gave a lecture on the origin and history of sushi. During the exchange that followed, the participants created original sushi menus, exchanged opinions, and had a great time.
