JENESYS2019 Exchange program to promote understanding of Japan (23rd Batch) ASEAN Invitation, “Japan-ASEAN Student Conference” (Countries: 10 ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste)
From February 9 to 18, 131 university students from 10 ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) and Timor-Leste participating in the “Japan-ASEAN Student Conference” will visit Japan.
The meeting was divided into five groups, with the common theme of “What the youths in Asian nations and Japan can do”. University students in Japan and participating countries will attend lectures related to the event, visit related facilities, exchange opinions with stakeholders, and hold workshops. Before returning from Japan, they will announce the “Declaration of Action” as an outcome at a report meeting in Tokyo. A courtesy visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is scheduled for February 17.
Through this program, young people in future participating countries will share their current situation in Japan with each country on each issue, exchange opinions to solve problems, realize their abilities and potential, and become aware of social contribution. It is hoped that the participants will become effective callers of Japan’s charm through their experience of enhancing the mutual understanding between Japan and the participating countries, deepening the friendship among the participants and understanding the value of Japan.
The JENESYS2019 is an exchange programme for the youths of Japan and ASEAN supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
