Joint Ministerial Statement on the 22nd ASEAN and Japan Transport Ministers Meeting
The 22nd ASEAN and Japan Transport Ministers Meeting (22nd ATM+Japan) was held on 21 November 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Meeting was cochaired by the Minister of Transport of Malaysia, Loke Siew Fook and State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, Furukawa Yasushi. The Meeting was preceded by the 23rd ASEAN and Japan Senior Transport Officials Meeting (23rd STOM+Japan) held on 19 November 2024.
ASEAN Member States welcomed the announcement by Japan to promote cooperative projects and activities under the ASEAN-Japan Transport Partnership (AJTP) in a comprehensive and sustained manner and support the various activities for the implementation of the Kuala Lumpur Transport Strategic Plan 2016-2025 and its successor document in the areas of air transport, land transport, maritime transport, sustainable transport and transport facilitation.
The Meeting endorsed the AJTP Work Plan for 2024-2025 under the Luang Prabang Action Plan. The list of projects in the AJTP Work Plan for 2024-2025 funded through JAIF includes Second Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Implementation Plan Training in ASEAN (GIPTA 2.0), Enhanced VTS Operator Training Project for ASEAN (Phase 4), and Joint Hydrographic Survey of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore.
