Planning Meeting for JAIF Project on Tropical Anguillid Eels

The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) Secretariat in collaboration with Departments, namely Inland Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (IFRDMD) and Aquaculture Department (AQD), organized the Project Planning Meeting to notify officially to the Member Countries on the project “Enhancing Sustainable Utilization and Management Scheme of Tropical Anguillid Eel Resources in Southeast Asia,” supported by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). The one-day meeting was organized in Bangkok, Thailand on 4 August 2017.

As the project covers two-year period starting from August 2017 until 2019, the meeting specifically discussed on description, objectives and overviews of the project as well as elaboration of contents of surveys to be undertaken under the project. The participants are representatives of the respective ASEAN Member States, SEAFDEC Secretary-General Dr. Kom Silapajarn, Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Kaoru Ishii and relevant staff members of SEAFDEC. In addition, the new SEAFDEC Council Director for Japan Mr. Shingo Ota and the National Coordinator Mr. Kiichiro Miyazawa also attended the meeting as observers.
