The First Batch of ASEAN Volunteers “Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Preparedness” has started their deployment in Malaysia

The first batch of ASEAN Volunteers “Community based disaster risk reduction and preparedness” has started their deployment in Malaysia from 28 October-18 November! Hosted by Mercy Malaysia, the project aimed to support communities in disaster-prone area by identifying risks specific to their community and strengthening their resilience. Over the course of 22 days, they also received training on community-based disaster risk management, psychological first aid, fundraising planning programme as well as support in school preparedness and beach clean-up programme.

The ASEAN Volunteers project is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). This project is part of the commemoration of the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation.
