The Third Expert Group Meeting (EGM) with ASEAN and JANA
The Malaysia Marine Department (MMD) through the Maritime Transport Training Institute (MATRAIN) held an “Expert Group Meeting (EGM)” for the third time to present the implementation of “The Enhanced VTS Operator Training Project for ASEAN (Phase 4)”. This meeting was held by teleconference and was chaired by Deputy Director General of Marine (Planning) JLM. Also presented, Director of Traffic Management and Navigation Assistance Division (BPTBP), Director of MATRAIN, Senior Director of BPTBP, Senior Assistant Director of BPTBP and officers from the Professional Development Division (Functional) of MATRAIN.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of ASEAN Member States. The Japanese representatives were represented by Special Assistant Director, Japan Coast Guard (JCG) and Executive Director General of Japan Aids to Navigation Association (JANA). The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) also sent representatives. This meeting is a continuation of the previous meeting which was held with Japan and ASEAN members to present the projects that have been held for the current year and plans for the following year.
This meeting started with an opening speech by the Chair and continued with a presentation by JANA regarding the implementation of the course “The Enhance VTS Operator Training Project for ASEAN (Phase 4)”.
After finishing the presentation, the Chairman took this opportunity to congratulate all parties involved in making this training program a success and hoped that all VTS members could carry out their duties diligently to ensure maritime navigation in the region is safe, secure and efficient.
