Joint Statement of the ASEAN Finance and Health Ministers’ Meeting (AFHMM)

The ASEAN Finance and Health Ministers Meeting (AFHMM) was convened on 24 August 2023, under the co-chairmanship of H.E. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Finance Minister of Indonesia, and H.E. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Health Minister of Indonesia. This joint meeting of ASEAN Finance and Health Ministers recognised the importance of health and finance collaboration.

The Meeting affirmed ASEAN commitment to strengthening regional health architecture beyond Covid-19 towards achieving resilience in the ASEAN Community, considering the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework (ACRF) and recognised the expansion of the Covid-19 ASEAN Response Fund to the existing Covid-19 and Other Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases ASEAN Response Fund and agreed to expedite the finalisation of the Establishment Agreement and preparatory phase of the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED).

In addition to its contribution to the ASEAN Response Fund, the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) also supported the ACPHEED with the Detailed Design and Preparation Support for the “ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases” project which was completed in December 2022.
