ASEAN Football for SDGs Project Overview

This week in Singapore, hosted the ASEAN-Japan Football for SDGs Forum in partnership with Sport Singapore —bringing together leaders to explore how football can drive sustainable development across the region.
Over two days, we heard from government officials, national federations, clubs, and grassroots organisations on how the game can deliver real impact—from inclusive access and youth development to strategic partnerships and long-term policy alignment.
A common thread emerged across every session: rethinking how we define fans, teams, and participation is key to growing inclusive and resilient football ecosystems.
ASEAN Football4SDGs: Activating the ASEAN Declaration on Leveraging the Role of Sports in ASEAN Community-Building and Achieving the SDGs is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
