31 May 2025 -

As part of the project “Regional Collaborative Research and Capacity Building for Monitoring and Reduction of Marine Debris from Fisheries in Southeast Asia”, supported by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF), SEAFDEC/IFRDMD carried out a field visit and research activities in Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia.

This initiative was conducted in parallel with a hydroacoustic survey under the project “Enhanced Research Capacities for Sustainable Utilization and Management of Eel and Other Inland Fisheries Resources,” which is funded by the Japan Trust Fund (JTF) 7. Both projects reflect SEAFDEC’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation in inland fisheries research and resource management.

These collaborative efforts aim to strengthen regional research capacity, promote sustainable inland fisheries management, and contribute to reducing the environmental impacts of freshwater debris originating from fisheries in Southeast Asia.
