JMT Receives Courtesy Visit from SEAFDEC Marine Debris’ Director General
JAKARTA, 4 July 2025 – The JAIF Management Team (JMT) welcomed representatives from the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) for a courtesy visit. As a key partner of ASEAN, SEAFDEC has been instrumental in implementing various the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF)-funded initiatives since 2015 fostering the sustainability of fisheries and aquaculture across Southeast Asia.
Notably, SEAFDEC’s ongoing projects include efforts to strengthen ASEAN’s capacity for monitoring and reducing marine debris originating from fisheries. Furthermore, a project to enhance resource management measures for Tropical Anguillid Eel is underway.
During the visit, Deputy Secretary-General and Deputy Chief of the Training Department for SEAFDEC, Koichi TAHARA and SEAFDEC delegates provided the JAIF Management Team (JMT) with updates on the progress of current projects. JMT expressed appreciation for the visit and proposed continued dialogue regarding project implementation and progress.
