Highlight of ACE-LEDMP Activities Reported in June 2026

With the support of the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF), the ACE Leadership in Emergency and Disaster Management for ASEAN Programme (ACE‑LEDMP) Phase II project aims to enhance the leadership skills, strategic decision‑making, and coordination capacities of junior, middle, and senior executive-level officers and leaders from the National Disaster Management. Offices (NDMOs) from all 11 ASEAN Member States. Here are the highlights of the ACE-LEDMP Junior Executive Level - Third Batch, 2026 activities in June 2026:
Introduction to Humanitarian Logistics
Participants of the ACE‑LEDMP Junior Executive Level – Third Batch, 2026, dived into an exciting session on Humanitarian Logistics, facilitated by the World Food Programme and the AHA Centre.
Participants learned how aid is planned and delivered during emergencies, from understanding urgent needs and supply chains to using strategies like staging areas and the ASEAN logistics system DELSA. The session also highlighted real-world challenges and lessons in ensuring aid reaches those who need it most.
Protection, Gender, Inclusion, and Diversity in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Action
Highlights on the ACE-LEDMP Junior Executive Level - Third Batch, 2026 session on "Protection, Gender, Inclusion, and Diversity in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Action” facilitated by the AADMER Partnership Group (APG) and AHA Centre.
Understanding displacement in the face of a changing climate is critical for effective and inclusive disaster response systems.
Through the ACE-LEDMP Junior Executive Level - Third Batch, 2026 session on "Displacement in Disasters under Changing Climate: Migration, Displacement, and Camp Management Introduction" facilitated by IOM - UN Migration on 19-20 May 2026, participants gained valuable insights into climate-induced movement and camp management.
Introduction to Disaster Recovery in ASEAN
Through the session “Introduction to Disaster Recovery in ASEAN,” participants of the ACE-LEDMP Junior Executive Level - Third Batch, 2026 explored how the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) serves as a vital tool to assess damage, loss, and recovery needs.
Led by the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP and co-facilitated by the European Union in ASEAN, UN Women, UNFPA, UNICEF, International Labour Organization, and Connecting Business initiative, the session guided participants to analyse impacts, develop recovery strategies, and translate them into actionable plans, while gaining insights from both donor and country recipient perspectives.
Crisis Communications and Facilitations for Disaster Management
The ACE-LEDMP Junior Executive Level - Third Batch, 2026 held an interactive session on "Crisis Communications and Facilitations for Disaster Management" facilitated by the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management & Humanitarian Assistance (CFE-DM).
Through the session, participants gained fundamental understanding of communication in disaster management, including how to tailor messages to specific audiences and develop a Crisis Communication Plan, and gained practical experience through a simulated press conference.
ACE-LEDMP Junior Executive Third Batch, 2026 Graduation Ceremony
The ACE-LEDMP Junior Executive Level - Third Batch, 2026 has officially concluded!
22 professionals from the National Disaster Management Organisations (NDMOs) of the ASEAN Member States have completed their 5-month journey to become future leaders in disaster management.
Thank you to the Government of Japan for its support through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF), the New Zealand Government for its support through the Strengthening Institutional Capacity of ASEAN in Disaster Management (SICAP) Phase II Project, and all partners who have contributed to the successful implementation of this batch.
Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Proposal/Report Writing
Throwback to the ACE-LEDMP Junior Executive Level - Third Batch 2026 session, “Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Proposal / Report Writing,” participants explored key approaches such as Result-based Management, Theory of Change, and the Plan-Do-Check-Action cycle.
Facilitated by MDF Asia Training & Consultancy, the session equipped participants with practical skills to design impactful proposals, track progress, and produce meaningful reports, turning plans into measurable results.
