The article, co-written by JMT Senior Programme Officer, spotlights the ASEAN Attachment Officer Programme under the IAI, supported by JAIF, which places officials from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Viet Nam and Timor-Leste at the ASEAN Secretariat for a year of hands-on learning on ASEAN processes.

Since 2001, 135 officials have completed the programme, building practical coordination skills, networks, and institutional confidence that have helped narrow capacity gaps and support a more inclusive ASEAN Community.

The Attachment Officer Programme has been supported by Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
