Opening Ceremony of the AHA Centre Executive Leadership in Emergency and Disaster Management for ASEAN Programme (ACE LEDMP), Middle Level

JAKARTA, 20 February 2024 – The opening ceremony of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) Executive Leadership in Emergency and Disaster Management for ASEAN (ACE LEDMP) Middle Level was held in Jakarta on 20 February 2024.

The Minister/Deputy Head of the Mission of Japan to ASEAN, CHUJO Kazuo, the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Socio-Cultural Community, Ekkaphab Phanthavong, and the Executive Director of the AHA Centre, Lee Yam Ming, delivered their remarks on how this project contributes to the Implementation Plan adopted at the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) Work Programme 2021-2025, and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP).

The ACE LEDMP programme is funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) and aims to enhance the disaster management capacities of the ASEAN Member States (AMS) by fostering strategic thinking and preparing professionals to effectively manage current and emerging challenges in disaster management. The programme was participated by 20 officials from nine AMS.
