SEAFDEC/SEC and SEAFDEC/TD Representatives Participate in Regional End-of-Project Evaluation Meeting on RPOA-Capacity

Representing the SEAFDEC Secretariat and Training Department, Senior Policy and Program Officer Sawitree Chamsai and Fishery Oceanographic Researcher, Dr. Supapong Pattarapongpan attended the Regional End-of-Project Evaluation Meeting on the Implementation and Assessment of the ASEAN Regional Plan of Action for the Management of Fishing Capacity (RPOA-Capacity). The three-day event took place from 12 to 14 August 2026 in Melaka, Malaysia.

Organised by the SEAFDEC Marine Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (SEAFDEC/MFRDMDthe gathering convened regional delegates and research specialists from across ASEAN Member States. Launched in April 2024, the initiative focused on tackling overfishing, fishing overcapacity, and IUU fishing by fostering regional coordination, standardizing monitoring indicators, and enhancing national fisheries information systems.

The Implementation and Assessment of the ASEAN Regional Plan of Action for the Management of Fishing Capacity project is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
