ASEAN delivers solar lanterns for flood-affected communities in Myanmar

3 August 2018 -
Following Tropical Storm 11 (Son-Tinh), combined with the monsoon season in ASEAN region, several ASEAN Member States have been severely affected by floods. Since early July 2018, the Jakarta-based ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) has been closely monitoring the situation in the region and providing updates to ASEAN Member States as well as its partners and stakeholders.
Since its establishment in November 2011, the AHA Centre has responded to 22 emergencies in 7 ASEAN countries. The solar lanterns delivered to 12,000 affected families in Myanmar were part of the initial batch of ASEAN relief items.
