Joint Ministerial Statement of the Seventeenth ASEAN and Japan Transport Ministers Meeting (17th ATM+Japan)

The 17th ASEAN and Japan Transport Ministers Meeting (17th ATM+Japan) was held on 15 November 2019 in Ha Noi, Viet Nam. The Meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Nguyen Van The, Minister of Transport of Viet Nam and H.E. Mr. MINORIKAWA Nobuhide, State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. The Meeting was preceded by the 18th ASEAN and Japan Senior Transport Officials Meeting (18th STOM+Japan) held on 13 November 2019.

The Ministers noted with satisfaction the steady progress of 24 projects implemented based on the AJTP Work Plan for 2018-2019, under the Pakse Action Plan adopted at the 11th ATM+Japan in December 2013. The Ministers endorsed the AJTP Work Plan for 2019-2020 which would further enhance regional connectivity. These included two projects supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF): “Advanced Personnel Training Program for Vessel Traffic Service” and “Joint Hydrographic Survey of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore.”
