The Crown of the Sultan of Siak Sri Indrapura, a Heritage from Indonesia
16 July 2020 -
A crown is a symbol of power, legitimacy, immortality, glory, prosperity and the afterlife. Given by Sultan Syarif Kasim II, the Sultan of Siak Sri Indrapura himself during his reign (1915-1949), the Crown of the Sultan of Siak Sri Indrapura is considered as the grand gesture of the Sultanate’s submission to the Republic of Indonesia.
The Crown of the Sultan of Siak Sri Indrapura, a national heritage of Indonesia, is featured together with the other 160 heritage items from Malaysia and Thailand through the ASEAN Cultural Digital Archive (ACHDA) project supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
