Parallel to the country-level validation activities, ACAI engaged with key international and regional partners on 21 May 2026 in Jakarta. The intensive, one-day diplomatic and technical exchange brought together leadership and senior representatives from the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF), the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).

The primary objective of these visits was to share foundational insights gained from Phase 1 of ACAI’s flagship active ageing initiative, present early learnings from the ongoing Phase 2 country site visits, and map out future collaborative pathways to tackle population ageing across Southeast Asia.

Director of the JAIF Management Team (JMT), Naoki Minamiguchi, expressed that JAIF is deeply honoured to support the ASEAN vision for a healthy, resilient, and active ageing society. “Through our vital partnership with the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI), we remain committed to empowering ASEAN Member States with the tools and insights needed to ensure the well-being, dignity, and active inclusion of our older populations for generations to come."

The Strengthening Institutional and Organizational Capacity for Promotion of Healthy Ageing Partnership of ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI) project is supported by the Government of Japan through JAIF.
