JMT Organises Project Management Training for the Lao PDR

The JAIF Project Management Training, co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR and the JAIF Management Team (JMT), was held on 14–15 May 2025.

The two-day training was opened by Director-General of the ASEAN Department, Chatoulong Bouasisavath, who expressed appreciation for Japan’s continued support in narrowing development gaps among the ASEAN Member States (AMS)—particularly through capacity-building in the Lao PDR. He also underscored JAIF’s key role in strengthening ASEAN-Japan cooperation.

The First Secretary of the Mission of Japan to ASEAN, MORI Nobuo, commended the Lao PDR’s leadership during its 2024 ASEAN Chairmanship and highlighted the country’s growing role in the region. He reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting Lao officials in navigating JAIF’s processes for more impactful ASEAN-Japan collaboration.

The training gathered 31 officials from 13 line ministries and featured presentations, group exercises, and interactive discussions facilitated by JMT, led by Director Naoki Minamiguchi.

Deputy Permanent Representative of the Lao PDR to ASEAN, Kongsada Detvongsone, and his team also shared valuable insights on the role of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) in reviewing ASEAN Development Cooperation project proposals.

This training posed as a meaningful step toward building stronger regional capacity and partnerships through JAIF.
