The Manuscript Cabinet from Thailand on the ASEAN Cultural Heritage Digital Archive (ACHDA) Website
03 February 2021 -
The Manuscript Cabinet is part of the National Library of Thailand’s collection of digitised cultural heritage items on the ACHDA website.
Forest scenes and characters from the Ramayana epic are depicted on gilded wood inlaid with stained glass, using the decorative technique called “lai kam ma lo” that uses Chinese pigments instead of lacquer.
Using the ‘browse’ feature on the ACHDA website, visitors now have access to a 360° view of many cultural items from Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Zoom in feature can be used for a closer look at all the intricate details.
The ASEAN Cultural Heritage Digital Archive (ACHDA) project is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
