Joint Statement of the Second ASEAN Plus Japan Ministerial Meeting on Sports (2nd AMMS+Japan)
The Second ASEAN Plus Japan Ministerial Meeting on Sports was held on 9 October 2019 in the Philippines. Part of the joint statement reads:
“We note the results of Needs Assessment of the ASEAN-Japan CollaborativeWork Programme and resolve to further collaborate in the areas of women in sports,development of physical education teachers and coaches, and sports science.Upholding the sense of resilience and solidarity among the peoples of ASEAN andJapan through sports, we look forward to our collaboration in promoting theparticipation of women and girls in sports in ASEAN through our joint initiative ASEAN-Japan Actions on Sports in 2019 – 2020 and express support towards Japan’s new initiative on Fostering Physical Education Teachers in the ASEAN Region.”
The “ASEAN-JAPAN Actions on Sports Phase I” is an upcoming project supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
