ASEAN Commences AHTN 2022 Review to Strengthen Regional Trade Integration
The ASEAN Technical Sub-working Group on Classification (TSWGC) is reviewing the ASEAN Harmonised Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN) 2022 version. This initiative reflects ASEAN Member States’ (AMS) commitment to maintaining a consistent and harmonised classification of commodities and enhancing regional economic integration. The review process, supported by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF), includes technical assistance and capacity-building workshops for ASEAN customs officers and tariff practitioners to ensure the effective implementation of AHTN 2028.
The TSWGC emphasised its commitment to fostering streamlined and efficient trade practices within the region to enhance transparency for traders. These efforts ensure ASEAN remains responsive to global trade dynamics while maintaining regional coherence and reinforcing its position as a reliable trade partner.
