Workshop on ASEAN Mechanism to Enhance Surveillance against Illegal Desludging and Disposal of Tanker Sludge at Sea

Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) organized a three-day workshop on 17-19 April 2018 in Batam, Indonesia. The workshop discussed the implementation of monitoring mechanisms for disposal of waste oil in ASEAN countries. It is expected that through the exchange of information among ASEAN member countries, each country can learn from the experience of other countries. The occasion was also expected to give birth to various recommendations related to the supervision of waste disposal into the waters.

The three-day event was attended by delegates from ASEAN countries, namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
