Philippines Hosts Climate Change Transparency Talks with ASEAN Member States
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) keeps pace with climate change concerns as it recently hosted and co-organized the International Workshop on Partnership to Strengthen Transparency for Co-Innovation (PaSTI) on November 7-8, 2019 in Quezon City.
PaSTI was established in 2017 by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MoEJ) in collaboration with World Resources Institute (WRI), with aims to contribute to the engagement of the private sector in ASEAN region by setting incentive mechanisms and enhancing national climate actions toward realization of low carbon society as a whole. Since its establishment, PaSTI has been expanding its bilateral activities in three countries, namely Indonesia, the Philippines, and Viet Nam.
Also, a PaSTI project with ASEAN Working Group on Climate Change (AWGCC) for the ASEAN region which mobilizes Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) has officially started in September 2019. The objectives of this project are to support the development and use of critical tools for compatible Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system and to enhance regional cooperative climate actions across the ASEAN Member States (AMS).
