Kick-off of the Project on Support for Capacity Building of the Greater Mekong Sub-region University Consortium

On 20-21 July 2018, SEAMEO RIHED organised the Kick-off of the Project on Support for Capacity Building of the Greater Mekong Sub-region University Consortium (GMS-UC) and the 1st Rectors Forum at the Sukosol Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. This is the first activity of the GMS-UC Project, being implemented by SEAMEO RIHED in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat under the framework of the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) supported by the Government of Japan. The project aims to enhance selected universities of the GMS-UC’s capacities across areas of management and leadership, teaching and research and internationalisation and cross-border education.

Keynote address was delivered by Ms. Shannon Kalayanamitr, CEO of IKIGAI Group and UN Women HE for SHE advocate, on “Leading with a Future Mind”, followed by Pol. Lt. Col. Dr. Nopdol Thongnopnua’s fruitful workshops on the subjects of “Management Leadership” and “Strategic Planning Formulation”, which helped the participants design their respective university’s strategic plan. The delegates agreed on reinforcing their commitment at institutional level to the project by signing the “Joint Statement for the Project on Support for Capacity building of the GMS University Consortium”.
