Chairman’s Statement of the 34th ASEAN Summit
The 34th ASEAN Summit was held in Bangkok on 23 June 2019. The Meeting was chaired by H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.
The Chairman’s Statement recognized projects, among others, supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). It mentioned the ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Capacity Building Centre (AJCCBC) in Bangkok, which will complement existing ASEAN efforts in cybersecurity capacity-building. It welcomed the signing of the Protocol to Amend the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement on 2 March 2019 in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and looked forward to its early implementation. It also welcomed the establishment of an ASEAN Satellite Warehouse in Chai Nat, Thailand, and looked forward to the launch of the ASEAN Satellite Warehouse in Manila, the Philippines in 2019 under the Disaster Emergency Logistics System for ASEAN (DELSA), which will enhance the mobilisation and delivery of relief items rapidly to disaster-affected areas.
